A native of Columbus, Ohio, Brett headed west and became a Buff at the University of Colorado in Boulder. After graduating with a BS in astrophysics, Brett started his career as an Aerospace Engineer at Ball Aerospace.
However, he discovered the web and his entrepreneurial spirit. Employee #3 at IdealBite, he was responsible for ensuring their 250K+ email subscribers around the globe got their daily "Bite". The company went on to be nominated as one of Time magazine's Top 50 websites for 2007 (#28 respectively).
Brett's unique combination of experience and skills on both the technical and development/strategy fronts lent him to make the switch to web start-ups.
Drawing on his background in doing PHP and Javascript development, along with social media strategy, Brett has that rare perspective on what it takes to make a "back-end" engine of a website work and what the return on investment is from a marketing perspective.
He spends his free time collecting and fixing bikes and enjoying fine tequilas.
Role: Identity and Web Design
A native of northwest Montana's Flathead Valley, Eli has been passionate about design for as long as he can remember.
Innovative solutions for design, illustration, photography and brand identityare reasons why he sees the world the way he does and why he always keeps a sketchbookby his side at all times.
He also feels fortunate to have worked with many great companies over the past seven years,exploring design solutions in agency environments, apparel & fashion industries and forinternational companies like Adidas, TaylorMade, Burton Snowboards, Rip Curl, Active Rideshops,Glas Apparel & Films and O’Neill wetsuits.
Eli currently is working remotely and is living his dream of traveling the United States in a 19 ft. Airstream Bambi Travel Trailer, roaming coast to coast as he immerses himself in the inspiration and lifestyle of the open road.
Role: Online Branding and cat herder
Jake started his career in the outdoor industry at Simms Fishing Products. He navigated to the world of pharmaceutical manufacturing software to head up the marketing efforts for Novinity Corporation. Using the web and search engine optimization, the software startup landed sales leads at Pfizer, Wyeth, and Tyco Healthcare.
Getting the entrepreneurial itch, he switched over to consulting on public relations and marketing research for companies such as LakenUSA, Pacific Outdoor Equipment, and Flying Horse Communications. Most recently he worked for Microsoft, developing intranet marketing websites, managing direct email campaigns and helping research Relationship Marketing best practices for its US Partner Program.
He spent four years on the Board of Directors for the world's greatest nonprofit - Big Sky Youth Empowerment Project. He is an adjunct professor in the College of Business at Montana State University, teaching courses on technology marketing. He also guest lectures on online marketing for TechRanch's "Bootstrap Montana" program.
Jake earned a BA with honors in physics on a swimming scholarship and stuck around for an MA in marketing from Drury University in Springfield, Missouri.
Jake divides his spare team between trying to learn how to cook Thai food and writing a bit of code here and there.
Role: iPhone Development
JP has called the Northern Rockies home for well over the past 10 years, first in Jackson Hole, WY and now Bozeman. Originally born in Texas, he cut his teeth in Silicon Valley and Austin start-ups.
His career spans some of the most exciting technology advances of recent memory and JP had a front seat working with tech visionaries like Bill Joy at Sun Microsystems and Apple during the 80's and 90's.
As a licensed Intel and Apple developer, JP splits his between iPhone application development and doing parallel research on using GPUs for general computing. He is currently a Ph.D candidate in computer science from Montana State University.
An avid swimmer, JP can be found in the pool or enjoying a good glass of wine in downtown Bozeman.
